The shipping container homes are the most environmentally sound form of home construction on the market. They use a fraction of the traditional timber steel and cement and cement found in conventional homes. The structural strength of the shipping container allows the builder to create multi-story dwellings, offering a larger living space without expanding its footprint. The heavy gauge steel framing allows the unit to withstand 65,000 lbs of stacked weight. It has been estimated that 85% of the building materials used in each shipping container home have been recycled. Also, the foundation design is less expensive, uses much less material and is faster to install. The infrastructure for transport already exists, so the container homes can be easily moved by ship, truck or train. This component reduces the amount of transport time. Everything is delivered in one trip. You don't have to pay for multiple deliveries of separate construction materials.

Hurricane, Earthquake & Tornado Proof Shipping Containers in Costa Rica and Shipping Container Homes

The shipping containers are made of Heavy gauge steel framing.The shipping container corner post are designed for a 150,000lbs vertical load. The steel walls are continuosly welded and can withstand over 2,000lbs of a transverse load and 1,000lbs of a longitudinally load. The floor can hold over 65,000lbs and the roof more than 420,000lbs. These shipping containers are steel boxes and designed to be ship worthy, withstanding the rough pounding of ocean travel. They are usually stacked as high as 9 containers and always arrive safely with its cargo.
In fact, in Florida and many coastal areas which are most affected by hurricanes the shipping container homes are replacing the destroyed homes from the past Hurricane season.

Security Proof Shipping Containers in Costa Rica and Shipping Container Homes

This is a home built out of a steel box. The heavy gauge steel framing and continuously welded walls are basically impenetrable. Another feature is that our shipping container homes reuse the cutouts from the windows and doors for security bars. Also, the fact that we will be stacking the units creating a second and third floor adds more security. Unfortunately the security issue here in Costa Rica is an issue. Our company plans on tackling the security issue by including these features in the sales price of the homes.
